Brennan G I remade all of the low voltage connections and changed the data wires to the condenser to red and blue (red1,blue2) The system is now cooling normally I did not replace the thermostat or ahu control board. I watched the system run and drop the indoor temperature 1* before leaving.

Chemical flushed drain as a courtesy. System is operating normally at this time. Noticed the duct system is original to the home (1979) Suggested the duct system should be upgraded.

This is the most basic equipment available for purchase today. It uses a single speed compressor and a single speed indoor fan. This unit is the least expensive to initially purchase and install.

Today we visited to evaluate the AC unit. A noise was recently noted that sounded like the whooshing of a washing machine. We learned the noise was from the return duct being full of water. The AC unit has a cracked drain pan. Since the pan is cracked the unit is not draining properly and water is building up inside of the AC unit. The water is pouring out into the ductwork. It seems this has been occurring for a few weeks because the unit is covered inside in mold and slime. The parts for this unit are not readily available and would need to be manufactured. We will need to order the evaporator coil with the drain pan at a cost of ~$3,700. Instead of spending thousands on the old unit Debbie is having us replace the system.
