Today the immediate issue is a failed dual capacitor. More often than not when the capacitor fails on the “fan side” the fan motor is quick to follow. A proper repair will be to replace the eight year old fan motor with the dual capacitor.

Today we visited because the air-conditioning system was not working. We learned the unit had a failed dual capacitor, and the outside fan was not working. James replaced the failed capacitor and got the system running temporarily. We will be returning to also replace the condenser fan motor.

We performed a tuneup special for the customer. Found some biological growth on the inside of the air handler, but the rest of the system looks to be in good shape. Fairly recently installed in 21. Ductwork looks to be in good condition. Customer requested a quote for moving equipment and also sizing up for one of the units.

Brennan G Today I visited for a second opinion on the condition of the duct system and a main concern of reported “high static pressure” by a previous repair man (not Hot2cold). Before preforming air flow test , I discovered that the drain line was still clogged and the emergency pan was filled with water and was about to overflow once again, (the original call to the previous company was for a clogged drain and water coming through the ceiling). I cleared the drain line and emergency pan as a courtesy and removed a substantial amount of debris from the line. I also discovered that the primary float switch is faulty and there isn’t a switch in the emergency pan. The drain line is not ran with the correct pitch and goes uphill in the attic , many of the fittings are not glued. The duct system is in poor condition due to age and is filled with “biological growth” and rodent debris. The static pressure is .13 , the systems test external static pressure is .50 .
